The Department of Legal Administration Technologies at Nimrud Technical Institute organized a specialized workshop titled: “The Legal Framework for the Right to Education for Persons with Disabilities,” presented by Asst. Lecturer Othman Mahmoud Matar.
The workshop highlighted the fundamental importance of the right to education as a cornerstone for building advanced societies. It focused specifically on the legal protections required for individuals with disabilities, addressing the challenges they face in achieving full social integration and the necessity of legislative intervention to safeguard their educational rights.
Key Objectives and Highlights:
- Examing international and national legislations that regulate and document the right to education.
- Empowering participants to understand laws guaranteeing educational rights for persons with disabilities and comparing them with international standards.
- Identifying legislative gaps that may hinder social justice for this community.
- Reviewing the “Law on Care for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs No. 38 of 2013,” while emphasizing the constitutional role in ensuring free education and preventing discrimination.
- Discussing ways to facilitate education to enhance employment opportunities and financial independence for persons with disabilities.
