Under the auspices of the Deanship of Nimrud Technical Institute, the Continuing Education Unit held a specialized scientific seminar titled: “The Impact of Drug Abuse on Student Performance Indicators: A Study of the Relationship Between Health and Output Quality.”
The seminar was presented by Assistant Prof. Dr. Haitham Abdullah Rajab, Dr. Mohammed Aziz Mohammed, and Dr. Wissam Amer Hashim from the Department of Therapeutic Nutrition Technologies. The session highlighted the severe psychological and physical risks of drug abuse, emphasizing its devastating effects on brain functions such as memory and focus, which directly leads to academic decline and lack of discipline.
The seminar focused on four key objectives:
- Measuring the academic impact of drug use by analyzing rates of absence, failure, and declining grades.
- Analyzing the link between health deterioration and the quality of educational outcomes (graduates).
- Identifying early warning signs to predict performance decline before the issue escalates.
- Proposing preventive solutions and intervention strategies (educational and health-related) to protect students and ensure educational quality.
The seminar targeted students, academic advisors, and parents. It covered health, academic, and statistical perspectives, emphasizing the importance of early detection and rehabilitation in safeguarding the future of the educational process
